by isleofman.com 20th December 2011
Today’s Isle of Man Bank Santa Dash was won by Kevin Loundes, running for Manx Cancer Help, and his time of 4 minutes 20 seconds knocked eight seconds off the course record which had stood since 2007. Second was last year’s winner Ryan Fairclough in 4 minutes 24 seconds and third Alan Corlett in 4 minutes 44 seconds. They were running on behalf of Motor Neurone Disease Association (Isle of Man) and the Special Care Baby Unit respectively. First lady Santa to finish was Dawn Yates representing Victim Support Isle of Man. Her time was 6 minutes 23 seconds. Isle of Man Bank put up a total prize fund of ?2,700 which also included prizes for the best dressed Santas as well as a number of spot prizes for secret, but pre-determined, finishing positions. There was a record entry with 138 people registered and 126 facing the starter. Welcoming the Santas to the South Douglas Old Friends Association, where refreshments were served afterwards, Isle of Man Bank managing director Bill Shimmins congratulated the runners on raising money for their chosen charities. He said it had been a fabulous festive event. ENDS
