Council Invites Sponsorship Proposals

by isleofman.com 5th January 2012
Following the success of a number of its large-scale community events in 2011 Douglas Borough Council is inviting proposals for sponsorship of three events it is organising this year. To commemorate Her Majesty the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee a ‘Party in the Park’ with a royal theme will take place on Saturday July 7 in Noble’s Park in lieu of the Council’s annual fun day. In November, on a date to be confirmed, the Council is to hold a fireworks display then later that same month it will stage its traditional Christmas lights switching-on ceremony, provisionally planned for Thursday November 22. Council Leader Councillor David Christian, J.P., said: ‘The Council’s response to these changed times when budgets are under pressure has been to develop productive partnerships with the private sector and we have been encouraged by the level of sponsorship our more high-profile community events attracted in 2011. While recognising the continuing gravity of the economic downturn the Council remains committed to doing all it can to hold events that can bring communities and generations together in a spirit of celebration. With this in mind we are willing to consider alternative funding mechanisms and would welcome sponsorship proposals for our 2012 events programme.’ Details of terms and conditions relating to sponsorship proposals may be obtained from Danielle Matthews on telephone 696313 or by email to dmatthews@douglas.gov.im. Proposals must be received no later than 5pm, Thursday, February, 2, 2012. ENDS
