The Religious Society of Friends

by isleofman.com 12th January 2012
The Religious Society of Friends (Quakers) provides a modern, non-liturgical Christian based religious experience. We do not have a priesthood. Within each Meeting there is a wide variety beliefs from those who are close to a traditional Church belief set through radical Christianity (focusing on the societal aspects of Christianity, and not on the nature of God) and even to those atheistic tendency. You may even find some people who have paganistic leanings, and there are certainly Quakers who have arrived from the other major faiths. What Quakers have in common is a belief of ‘that of God in everyone’ and an interest in social equality. The Isle of Man Quaker Meeting now meets at Eastcliffe, Victoria Road, Douglas at 10-30am on Sundays (except the 4th Sunday in the month when we take ourselves around the island, in support of our Friends who have difficulty in reaching Douglas). Please use the Victoria Avenue entrance, and go through the car park to reception. ENDS
