Archery Report

by isleofman.com 16th January 2012
This weeks fita 18 round was part of the scratch league and saw five personal bests these came from Colin Moore in the compound discipline putting 23 points on his best and also gets the highest score of the day and the rest came from the gents recurve discipline with Marcus Boyd he puts 52 on Ethan Moore puts 87 Rob Lott put 90 and Ed Bennett and Rhys Moore who have shot this round for the first time. In the gents recurve this week saw a what can only be described as nail biting end to end battle of nerves between Dave Berry and Tony Hartley the pair swapped the lead all the way through the morning Berry went one point up with only three arrows to shoot he shoots a 26 with them and leaves it open for Hartley to take advantage but Hartley’s first arrow was a six and then realised that he couldn’t do it and settled for the second step on the podium for Berry to take the top spot this week and to round the podium of in third was Ethan Moore who put in a fantastic shoot. Gents compound saw Colin Moore have the advantage today over his rival Peter Mumford who was having a bad day sending one of his trusty arrows off the target face for an uncharacteristic shot in the ladies compound Sarah Rigby topped the podium followed very closely by Joy Gough. Ladies recurve saw Barbara Harris edge a lead in the first dozen arrows that she wouldn’t lose to top the podium from Karen Lott and in the junior recurve Rhys Moore and Adam Wright have another end to end battle that would be an even closer finish than the gents recurve Moore had a two point lead with six arrows to shoot Moore and Wright were shooting the same after every arrow on the last arrow Moore get a 10 to take the top spot from Wright by only three points the third spot on the podium went to Bradley Layton who had lead till a problem with his sight adjuster that had failed after four dozen arrows.
