Barclays Wealth Supporst Julian Lloyd Webber Event

by isleofman.com 19th January 2012
Barclays Wealth is pleased to announce its support of an intimate concert at the Gaiety Theatre with one of the world’s most renowned musicians, Julian Lloyd Webber. Organised by John Wannenburgh of the Sporting and Dining Club, the evening provides a unique opportunity to see Julian performing classics including Bach, Faure, Saint Seans and Debussy and well as favourites by his father William and brother Andrew while accompanied by pianist Pam Chowan. Widely regarded as one of the most creative musicians of his generation, Julian won a scholarship to the Royal College of Music when he was 16 and completed his studies in Geneva with the renowned French cellist, Pierre Fournier. Since then he has collaborated with an extraordinary array of musicians from Yehudi Menuhin, Lorin Maazel, Esa-Pekka Salonen and Georg Solti to Elton John and Stephane Grappelli. As leader of ‘In Harmony’, the British Government's new music programme, Julian is working to promote personal and community development in some of England's most deprived areas, through orchestral-based learning and musical experiences. Managing Director of Barclays Wealth in the Isle of Man, Simon Scott said: ‘We are delighted to support an event which showcases such a talented and renowned artist as Julian Lloyd Webber. We are committed to supporting the arts in the Isle of Man and are excited to welcome this concert which offers islanders a great opportunity to see a world-class artist performing locally.’ Organiser John Wannenburgh said: ‘I would like to take this opportunity to thank Barclays Wealth for supporting the Julian Lloyd Webber event in September. I am very excited to be bringing such a talented and respected musician to the Island who I know will be very popular. Without the ongoing support of local organisations such as Barclays Wealth, we wouldn’t be able to attract such high profile acts to the Island.’ The event is taking place on 13th September 2012, tickets are available from the Gaiety Theatre box office or online at www.gov.im/villagaiety.
