Claremont Hotel Receive Wedding Licence Approval

by isleofman.com 25th January 2012

Following last year’s ruling permitting venues other than churches and registry offices the authority to host weddings, The Claremont is pleased to be one of the first hotels on the Island to be endorsed with a wedding licence.  Hoping to offer their luxury facilities for couples looking to tie the knot in style, The Claremont Hotel recently undertook the first stage of a ?2 million regeneration scheme – which will see the hotel’s bedrooms, reception and lounge areas undergo a complete transformation in a bid to become recognised both locally and nationally as one of the Isle of Man’s leading hotel venues.

Mark Wilson, Managing Director of Sleepwell Hotels, expressed his thoughts concerning the wedding licence initiative: “Whilst our refurbishment is initially for the purpose of updating our architecture, we recognise that times are changing – both in the physical and mental sense.  We originally planned to redesign our hotel as a way of helping guests feel closer to the technology and facilities they were used to at home, but upon hearing the news regarding the reformed Civil Marriage laws, we felt that our venue would provide the perfect setting. Naturally, we also co-ordinate many wedding receptions and now that we have been granted the authority to host wedding ceremonies, we hope couples will look to The Claremont Hotel for all their wedding needs, incorporating the ceremony, reception and of course, the Luxury Bridal Suite.

After receiving approval in January, The Claremont will of course be able to accept bookings in time for February 14th – giving newly engaged couples the ideal opportunity to integrate both their wedding and reception venue plans, following a day of Valentine’s romance.
