Police have now named the man who died following a fire at an address in Larivane Meadows, Andreas on Monday 23rd January 2012 as being 74 year old Edward Walter Corlett. Mr Corlett sustained injuries as a result of the fire and was transported to Nobles hospital where he sadly died later that day.
 
Detective Constable Alan Shimmin said, “An investigation is ongoing into the cause of the fire, which was contained to one room, however at this stage there do not appear to be any suspicious circumstances. Our thoughts go out to Mr Corlett’s family and I would ask that their privacy is respected at this difficult time.”

The Police are investigating a disturbance that occurred in the courtyard outside Fusion, Callow’s Yard, Castletown on the evening of Saturday 21st January 2012 just after 11:10pm resulting in a 29 year old male’s arrest.  Sergeant Paul KEMP of the Southern Neighbourhood Policing Team said, “We would be grateful if anybody who witnessed the incident or has any information that could assist us with our enquiries in relation to what took place prior to the gentleman’s arrest would contact any officer at Castletown Police Station. This type of incident is a rare occurrence.  The Southern Neighbourhood Policing Team work closely with the management of the licensed premises in the south to ensure that everybody has a safe night out and we are keen to ensure that we can prevent any such occurrence taking place in the future. ”  Constable Dave HIGSON is the officer in the case for this matter and can be contacted on 822222.

Police are appealing for any information regarding a number of high value guitars which were taken from Peter Norris Music, Finch Road, Douglas at around 9pm on Wednesday 25th January.
 
The premises were entered through a smashed window in the front door. A small group of males were seen leaving the area with the guitars, walking along Kingswood Grove in the direction of the Manx Museum.

Between Thursday 19th January and Monday 23rd January 2012, a television has been taken from a property in Douglas. The television is described as a 40”, flat screen television with a silver coloured base. It is described as being incredibly thin and with a silver trim around the edge. If anybody has any information in relation to this television, or has been approached by anybody attempting to sell them a television with this description, please contact Police Constable Andy Lloyd on 631212.
