Former BBC North West Tonight and ITV Granada Reports journalist Paul Moulton is to front a new online TV news service provided by Manx Telecom. MTTV is a free, daily news service accessible at www.manx.net and featuring breaking stories from across the Island. Paul, who is one of the Island’s most experienced and best known broadcasters, says he is aiming to provide a ‘slice of Manx life’ for viewers who want local news on-demand. He added:
“MTTV will be made on the Isle of Man, exclusively for the Isle of Man. It will be the Island’s first dedicated HD TV news channel and represents the future of how all television news will look. It’s so exciting to be involved in this right at the beginning. Viewers can choose what they want to watch, when they want to watch it - not just when TV programme schedulers choose to broadcast news bulletins. MTTV will provide news on demand. When a big story breaks we won’t sit around waiting for the next news bulletin - our report will be on the site within minutes of the final edit.”
Paul began his broadcasting career at Manx Radio, joined the ITV Border region as a TV news reporter in 2006, and later went on to report on Isle of Man news for the BBC’s North West Tonight show. He’s eager to hear from anyone with news stories and can be contacted by phoning 310000 or by emailing news@manx.net
Mike Dee, Manx Telecom CEO, said MTTV was a service exclusively for the Isle of Man and about the Isle of Man. He commented:
“MTTV is another example of how we are constantly developing innovative ideas to create new products and services. There is a demand for up to date local television news delivered to viewers over the internet to the device of their choice. Our superfast Ultima broadband service, and our fastest on Island 3G mobile network, are ideal for supporting MTTV’s HD video reports. With Paul Moulton’s background as an experienced and respected broadcaster, MTTV viewers can be confident that news reports will be of the highest standard. He shares our enthusiasm for MTTV and we look forward to the channel becoming an integral part of Island life.”
Whether watching MTTV content at home, in the office or on the move, download speeds and quality will be optimised to suit the device viewers are using, or to accommodate the download speeds available in a particular location.
