Views Sought on the Best Position Within Government for Mental Health Service

by isleofman.com 3rd February 2012

The Chief Secretary’s Office on behalf of the Council of Ministers is leading an exercise to clarify which part of Government is the best organisational location for the Island’s Mental Health Service (MHS).

MHS has been with the Department of Social Care since the restructuring of Government which split the former Department of Health and Social Security when it took effect in April 2010. There has been a continuing discussion amongst interested parties about whether MHS would be better placed to serve its customers if it were part of the Department of Health.

The review team would welcome the views of Mental Health Service customers and their carers regarding how the organisational structure could best meet patients’ needs. Views should be submitted to MHSReview@gov.im or Organisational Location Review of the MHS, Chief Secretary’s Office, Central Government Office, Bucks Road, Douglas by Monday February 27, 2012.
