The catering team at Noble’s Hospital has presented a cheque for ?510 to the Isle of Man Special Olympics Committee and team members.
The catering team raised the money with cake sales and a Hop-Tu-Naa themed ‘spooktacular cannibal menu’. The event was a great success and was supported by all hospital staff which boosted the money raising efforts to ?510.
Member for Health, Dudley Butt MLC said: “I’d like to thank the dedicated individuals at Noble’s Hospital who have yet again found an innovative way to raise money for a worthy cause. I would also like to thank all the suppliers who donated prizes and everyone who baked a cake. I am sure that our Special Olympic athletes are grateful for such a generous donation to add to the current fundraising goal, which has also been chosen by the Mayor of Douglas as one of the recipients of his Charity Appeal Fund 2011-2012.”
Derek Peters, Catering Service Manager said: “The catering team are delighted to support the Special Olympics Isle of Man Committee and athletes, not just because it’s a good cause but also because we know quite a few of the athletes that take part; they are regular customers and we would like to return some support to them by raising funds for a very worthy charity.”
Liz Lillis, Staff Dining Room Supervisor added: “We hope the funds raised will go towards the monies required to send a team of athletes to the Special Olympics World Winter Games in PyeongChang, South Korea which starts on 26 January 2013. The determination and drive that the Special Olympic team has is amazing and they make us very proud with their continuous success representing the Island at events in the UK and around the world.
“I would like to take this opportunity to thank hospital staff who kindly made donations throughout our fund raising events. Special thanks to the catering team who continuously take part in our charity events by buying, baking, donating and the odd bit of dressing up, making our events a success every time.”
