Centrica To Hold Public Information Days for Irish Sea Wind Farm Zone Development

by isleofman.com 9th February 2012

Centrica, the energy company developing the Irish Sea wind farm zone, is to hold three public exhibitions on the Isle of Man to provide members of the public with information about the work carried out to date, and to provide an overview of forthcoming activity.

The dates of the exhibitions are:

- Ramsey Town Hall, February 21 between 2pm and 8pm
- Port St Mary, Scoill Phurt le Moirrey, February 22 between 2pm and 8pm
- Strand Shopping Centre, Douglas, February 23 between 11am and 4:30pm
- Java Lounge , 43-45 Duke Street, Douglas, February 23 between 6.30pm and 8.30pm.

Centrica was awarded exclusive rights to develop wind farms within the Irish Sea zone in January 2010. Its boundary is more than 20km from the Isle of Man.

In the past two years, Centrica has carried out various studies and stakeholder consultations to identify areas within the zone that could be suitable for wind farm development. This process will identify potential development areas within the zone, which will then be taken through the planning process.

Laura Jeffs, Centrica’s head of renewables development, said: “Whilst the development is at a very early stage, we’re committed to consulting from the outset with the public and other interested parties. The information days will provide people with the opportunity to meet us, learn about what we’ve been doing and find out more about the development process.”
