A mhelliah and meat draw at the Woodbourne Hotel, Douglas has raised ?1270 for the Isle of Man hyperbaric facility.
The cheque was presented to the facility’s medical technologist David Downie by Andy Harris, manager of the Woodbourne Hotel, a Heron and Brearley managed house, and the company’s head of operations Steve Robinson, together with pub regular Tommy Rougvie.
Mr Harris said: ‘Our last mhelliah helped raise much of the money, thanks to the generosity of our customers and those who donated produce. The meat draw was another popular attraction – even my young son Haydn helped with the ticket sales – and we also raise money throughout the year with our book club. Woodbourne customers are very supportive of the hyperbaric chamber because, like me, they believe the vital services it provides are worth saving.’
Mr Robinson added: ‘We’re pleased that Heron and Brearley’s managed houses, through the support of their loyal customers, can make a valuable contribution to worthy causes and we look forward to our continued association with the local community.’
Receiving the cheque Mr Downie said: ‘We’re very grateful to the staff and customers of the Woodbourne. These are difficult times for charities – here at the hyperbaric facility we don’t have professional fundraisers - so donations such as this are crucial to help us continue our work.’
