Celton Supports Cruse Bereavement Golf Day

by isleofman.com 17th February 2012

Celton Manx is pleased to be supporting the second annual Cruse Bereavement golf day. The event was held for the first time last year at Peel Golf Club and raised over ?5,000 for the charity.

Cruse Bereavement Care was founded in 1959 and now has over 200 branches around the British Isles. The Isle of Man branch was opened in 1988 and to date has provided counselling services to over 1,000 local people. The branch is funded entirely by Manx grants and donations and relies on the generosity of its sponsors and supporters to continue to provide bereavement services to the community.

The charity golf day will be taking place at Peel Golf Club on Friday 27th April. Teams of four are invited to register at the club house from 8.30am where breakfast will be served and a shotgun start at 9.45am. There will be prizes for the first, second and third placed teams as well as nearest to the pin on the 2nd and 17th holes and longest drive on the 18th.  The popular beat the pro competition will once again be running on the 2nd hole giving all participants the chance to test their skills against an expert. Lunch and a prize presentation will be held after the competition.

Celton Manx Executive Director Bill Mummery said: ‘We are very pleased to be able to help Cruse Bereavement with the staging of its second annual golf day. The work they undertake in our community is so important, losing somebody close to you is devastating and the support on offer from the trained volunteer counsellors is invaluable.’

Cruse Bereavement representative and organiser Sam Skelton said: ‘We are delighted to be welcoming Celton Manx on board as the main sponsor for this event. Their support means that we have been able to reduce the entry fee and cover the main costs in running the event such that Cruse will now benefit to the maximum extent from each entry taken. Funds will again go towards helping to train much needed volunteer counsellors and support the ongoing counselling services that Cruse provides. It promises to be a great day!’

Some team spaces are still available at a cost of ?300 per team. For more information and to book your space, please contact Lilian Smith at Cruse Bereavement Care, www.cruseisleofman.org or by phone on 668192
