Services Update – Heysham - IOM Sailings

by isleofman.com 17th February 2012

Following revised tidal predictions received from Heysham Port, the Ben-my-Chree Heysham-IOM sailings will need to depart at 01.45 on Saturday and Sunday (February 18 & 19), 30 minutes earlier than scheduled.

The current tidal level in Heysham is 0.5m below its predicted level. The decision to bring forward the departure times has been made with the safety of the vessel, its passengers and crew in mind. The 30-minute window will ensure the vessel stays within the limit of her safe ‘under keel clearance’.

While predicted tidal levels are available well in advance and are taken into consideration when creating schedules, unpredictable elements such as local weather systems can affect these predictions.

The Steam Packet Company will attempt to contact all passengers who will be travelling on the affected sailings to advise them accordingly.
