Faster Broadband Gets Cheaper

by isleofman.com 24th February 2012

Manx Telecom’s ultrafast Ultima broadband service is now even more affordable following the launch of three new data package options. Since it was introduced in October 2011, Ultima has proved to be a massive hit with Isle of Man consumers eager to get the fastest upload and download speeds on the Island.

Ultima is now available in 15GB, 40GB, 150GB data packages, as well as the original unlimited monthly option. The new data packages are designed to suit everyone from the occasional internet user to megabyte munching families. All of the options give download speeds of up to 40 Mbps and upload speeds of up to 2 Mbps, which means you can surf, play, watch and listen, up to three time faster than regular broadband.
David Smith, Manx Telecom Director of Marketing, said Ultima has been incredibly popular from the moment it was launched, and the new products are a response to feedback from customers who asked for data packages tailored to suit their needs. He commented:

“We’ve been delighted with demand for Ultima, and the feedback we have received from customers. It really has revolutionised how they experience the internet. But not everyone needs unlimited data, so we’re now giving more choice with three new products providing packages that suit all of our customers’ needs. With a free router worth ?120 and free installation and products starting from ?26.45 a month - it’s a great deal, whatever option customers choose.”
Ultima is ideal for households or businesses that use a multitude of technology eg smart phones, iPads, games consoles, laptops and internet-enabled TVs simultaneously – all of which require seamless and ever faster data connections.

Ultima has been made possible following a significant investment by Manx Telecom in VDSL (Very High Bit-Rate Digital Subscriber Line) technology. It is available on all lines that are within 2km of Manx Telecom’s VDSL equipment. More than 60 per cent of homes on the Island can benefit from the Ultima service. Customers can check whether Ultima is available to them by visiting www.manxtelecom.com/speed
