A programme to refurbish kitchens in 132 public sector houses owned by Ramsey Town Commissioners has begun.
The project is being carried out under the kitchen framework agreement, delivered by the Department of Social Care in partnership with the Island’s local authorities.
In Ramsey the work has been completed in a number of properties, providing an opportunity for the Commission’s lead member for housing and property Mary Bruce to meet with tenants and invite their comments.
Mrs Bruce said: ‘In the main tenants’ feedback has been very positive. This is an extensive project that covers all remedial and structural work, plumbing, tiling and rewiring and replacement of kitchen units. The end result is a more spacious kitchen/dining area that provides modern-standard facilities with long-term durability. Importantly, the kitchen framework agreement eases pressure on the Commission’s already stretched housing maintenance budget so lessens the burden on the rates.’
