Police are thanking the public for their help following an appeal last week whereby a dog attacked sheep grazing on fields adjacent to Ballanard Road and Watterson Lane. As result of this appeal Police have traced the dog responsible and its owner, who has been reported for the matter.
PC Michael Taylor from the Douglas Neighbourhood Policing Team stated ‘ I would like to thank the public for their response to this appeal. This is an important time of year for the farming community as it is lambing season, any stress caused to expecting sheep can cause them to abort the lambs which would obviously have an impact on the animals, and also a financial impact on the farmer. I would urge all dog owners to ensure their dogs are kept on a lead, and not to walk their dogs near livestock, as they could potentially cause offences. It is the duty of the person with control of the dog to keep their animals under proper control.
