Over 100 dogs and their owners made the trek to Stewart Clague Services in Baldrine on Sunday 4 March 2012 as part of a charity dog walk held by KPMG to raise money for Manx Cancer Help. An event that got tongues – and tails – wagging, a series of walks took place in the scenic grounds of Ballannette Park between 10:30am and 1pm, with a huge turnout ensuring that an impressive ?1,416 was raised to help support the ongoing efforts of local charity, Manx Cancer Help.
Expressing her delight at the support showed for the walk, fundraising events co-ordinator for Manx Cancer Help, Ally Martin, said: “We couldn’t have chosen a better day – the sun’s out, the park is filled with the sounds of dogs barking and everyone’s in great spirits, especially myself! I can’t believe how many people – and dogs – turned up to take part, and we can’t thank KPMG’s, Sinead O’Connor and Gaynor Scott, enough for their assistance. They have been a massive help and have come up with some really great original ideas, and thanks to the kindness of Stewart Clague Services for allowing us to hold the walk in their premises, we’ve been able to provide a fun-filled day all in the name of charity.”
Sinead also spoke about KPMG’s involvement with the dog walk: “Each year KPMG sets their sights on a worthwhile cause, and for 2012 we’re extremely pleased with our decision of selecting Manx Cancer Help as our chosen charity. A superbly organised event, we’d like to thank the public and their dogs for taking the time out of their day to raise funds for one of the Island’s most dedicated causes, and look forward to bigger and better future fundraising events in association with Manx Cancer Help.”
KPMG and Manx Cancer Help would like to thank Stewart Clague for allowing the dog walk to be held in Ballanette Park, Pets at Home for providing dog treats and ?100s worth of vouchers won by Alison Moore during Sunday’s raffle, as well as Nina – and her dog Winston – who both raised ?240 in sponsorship.
