Archery Report

This week saw archers tackle a Portsmouth round in the scratch league this was a competitive round and saw seven personal bests this bods well for the fore coming outdoor season giving these archers even more confidence and two archers switching disciplines.

In the gents recurve Tony Hartley topped the podium with Dave Berry now getting the hang of the new bow picks up the second spot with Dave Moore getting the last spot on the podium with personal best coming from Marcus Boyd, Ed Bennett and David Daugherty.

In the gents compound Colin Moore topped the table with Frank Vaughan and Billy Lightfoot both changing discipline from recurve to compound so both picking up personal best with Vaughan just edging Lightfoot to the runners up spot by only four points.

Ladies Recurve Barbara Harris topped the table with Karen Lott picking up the runners up spot while putting in a personal best and Sarah Rigby was the only archer in the Ladies Compound with the other ladies away at Team GB trails and other competitions.

Junior recurve saw a close fort battle between Rhys Moore, Adam Wright and Bradley Layton, Moore edged  ahead from Wright who achieved a personal best to get the runners up spot with Layton getting the third step of the podium.

Further afield two archers made the trip to compete in the Yorkshire Archery Association Annual County Indoor Championships British record status Portsmouth round with Peter Mumford picked up first visiting gent compound and Joy Gough collecting second visiting ladies compound there were two other archers down to compete in this only engine problems with the steam packets Ben My Chree on Saturday forced them to withdraw from this competition and ended up competing at home instead.

Next weeks round will be a Worcester Scratch league at Onchan Community Sports Hall and the start times are 10am setup for a 10:30 start morning shoot and 1:30 for 2pm start afternoon shoot and Monday Night shoot will be Vegas Scratch league these shoot are at 7pm for a 7:30pm start.
