Think Big Challenge Raises Big Money for Children’s Charity

by isleofman.com 12th March 2012

The Children’s Centre’s ‘Think Big Challenge’ raised a massive total of ?4,537 for the charity. The Challenge involved teams from a number of companies and organisations being given ?50 ‘seed money’ and using their entrepreneurial skills to devise projects to raise more funds over a period of six weeks.

The seed money for all the participants was generously provided by Paragon Recruitment and the teams could use any legal and ethical means to ‘grow’ their initial funds. All of the proceeds from the event will go to support The Children’s Centre’s projects Out2Play, Mobex, Child Contact Centre, Philip Christian Centre, and Community Farm. Capital International Group (CIG) won the Challenge by raising ?1,431.80. In recognition of the company’s Social and Charity Committee’ s dedication and hard work, Capital International Group contributed additional funds to make a total of ?3,000 donated by CIG.

A spokesperson for Capital International Group said:
“Capital International Group (CIG) is proud to have participated in The Children’s Centre Think Big Challenge. Capital’s team organised 24 separate events including a wax off, treasure hunt, two car boot sales and a number of food events including cake sales, breakfast bap sales, and staff lunches. Perhaps our next charity event should be a sponsored diet!”
Teams representing Isle of Man Ship Registry, 2nd Onchan Scouts Group, Port St Mary Dental Practice, and Onchan Rotary Club also raised valuable funds for the Island’s leading charity for children and families. Michelle O’Malley, Fundraising Manager for The Children’s Centre, said:
“Once again we were delighted with the enthusiasm and hard work which all of the teams put in to the Think Big Challenge. We would like to say a big thank you to everyone who took part and to Paragon Recruitment for supporting the event again.”

The Children’s Centre’s fundraising team supported all of the groups taking part by providing a wealth of resources, and handy tips and advice.
