Wales based TT fans can once again fly direct from Cardiff to the Isle of Man for the world famous motor-racing festival. The first Island-bound flight will take off on the eve of practice week - Friday 25th May – and prices start from ?59.95 one-way including taxes and charges.
The route was introduced last year following requests from Welsh fans of the TT. Flights will depart every Friday during the two week festival – on 25th May, 1st and 8th June – at 18.05, arriving in the Isle of Man at 19.10. Flights will return from the Isle of Man on Sunday 27th May, Monday 4th June and Sunday 10th June at 17.00, arriving in Cardiff at 18.10.
This year’s event is even more hotly anticipated than normal, following the worldwide success of the TT3D: Closer to the Edge film and the extensive television coverage of the race highlight programmes. Last year’s racing was hugely competitive with seven different winners across the eight races.
Chairman of Manx2.com, Noel Hayes, said: ‘The TT is hugely important to the Isle of Man; not only is the event itself utterly enthralling but it also showcases the Island’s natural beauty and scenery. Our TT specials last year were a hit and we’re pleased to be able to help more fans get to the 2012 festival.’
Geoff Corkish MBE MHK, Political Member for Isle of Man Tourism, said: ‘With the Isle of Man TT popularity growing year on year, we thank our partners in the tourism and hospitality industries for their ongoing support and enthusiasm. Manx2.com are, and have always been, proactive partners and are a great example of how local companies can work with Government to great effect.
‘This year’s TT promises the best competitive racing and great all round entertainment and fun. We look forward to welcoming fans from Wales and around the world.’
Spencer Birns, Cardiff Airport’s Head of Commercial Operations and Air Services Development said: ‘We’re pleased with the announcement that Manx2.com will be operating additional flights to the Isle of Man once again this year.
Motorcycling fans based in South Wales will have the opportunity to fly from their local airport to the island, offering them a convenient and easy option to travel to the Isle of Man for this world class sporting event.’
In addition, Manx2.com will again run a special summer season of flights between Anglesey and the Isle of Man, starting at the end of May. It also operates the twice daily weekday route between Cardiff and Anglesey with partner carrier FLM Aviation.
