Chat to The Champions at Manx Telecom 'Walk Talk'

by isleofman.com 20th March 2012

If you’re entering the Manx Telecom Parish Walk there’s an ideal opportunity to get advice from previous winners at a ‘Walk Talk’ event being held at the Manx Museum.

Four-time champion Jock Waddington is the special guest and will be joined by other elite competitors and coaches. Jock will talk about his experiences which began by taking part in the Parish Walk just with an ambition to finish the full distance. But he progressed rapidly from a novice race walker to a champion, recording the second fastest time in the event’s history on his way to winning the event four years in succession between 2008 and 2011.

The Walk Talk is open to the public and takes place on Tuesday March 27. The Manx Museum will open its doors at 5pm with the talk starting at 5.30pm.

Spaces are limited so they will be allocated on a first come first served basis.

Jock Waddington will be joined by 2011 women’s Parish Walk champion Maureen Moffatt, Manx Telecom Parish Walk Chief Judge Steve Taylor who will also be Chief Judge in race walking events at the 2012 London Olympics, and race walking coach Allan Callow.
