Easter fun at The Strand Centre to raise funds for The Children’s Centre

by isleofman.com 3rd April 2012

Parents can combine a shopping trip with fun and games for their children on Good Friday and Easter Saturday. The Children’s Centre has teamed up with The Strand shopping centre to organise a fantastic series of events ideal for all the family.

The Strand centre will be transformed into an Easter Fun Park from 11am to 4pm on Friday and 10am to 4pm on Saturday. The Children Centre’s team will be on hand with plenty of fun and games, from face painting to Easter egg decorating and Easter egg hunts. Children can also meet a range of pet animals from Dolittle’s  - a non-profitable animal-assisted healing organisation - from 2pm to 4pm on both days. Visitors can also have a go on The Children’s Centre’s ‘Smoothie Bike’ which uses pedal power to operate a delicious smoothie making machine. The Smoothie Bike is part of the charity’s drive to promote a healthier lifestyle.

Susie Cox, Community Fundraiser at The Children’s Centre, said:

“The Easter Fun Park will be a great event for families and children and we’ll have lots of games, competitions, and activities to keep everyone entertained. We would like to thank The Strand centre and Doolittle’s for helping us to stage the event and hope as many people as possible come along to join in the fun.”

The Strand shopping centre Manager John Shakespeare commented:

“The Strand held its first Easter Fun Park event last year and it turned out to be a major success especially with Dolittle’s petting zoo.  Over the course of the last 12 months The Strand and The Children’s Centre have worked together on various fundraising projects from Christmas Wish boxes to abseiling events and we are delighted that The Children’s Centre will be running this year’s Easter Fun Park. Dolittle’s will be back along with many other events suitable for children of all ages. We look forward to seeing as many people as possible over the Friday and Saturday. I hope everyone has a very happy Easter.”
