Cat with No Tail raises ?1700 for Manx Stroke Foundation

by isleofman.com 10th April 2012

The Manx Stroke Foundation has benefited from a ?1700 donation thanks to Heron and Brearley and patrons of the Cat with No Tail.

The company gave two Carling Cup Final (Cardiff City v Liverpool) tickets to the pub’s managers Karen and Tony Atkinson to raffle and raise funds for the charity in memory of Katie Edge, who worked at the Cat with No Tail for five years but died from a brain haemorrhage in December 2010 aged just 27.

Mrs Atkinson explained: ‘We’ve been doing a lot recently to raise funds for the Manx Stroke Foundation.  Initially we raised ?1000 for the tickets but then the winner chose to re-raffle them, so in the end we made ?1700. We’re very grateful to Heron and Brearley for donating the tickets, to all our patrons who supported the raffle and to 3FM for promoting the event.’

Heron and Brearley’s marketing and events manager Cosmo Currey said: ‘Our managed houses are at the very heart of the Island’s local communities.  We were therefore pleased to have been able to support the fundraising efforts of the Cat with No Tail and wish Karen, Tony and their customers every success in their future endeavours.’
