Peel RNLI lifeboat with its volunteer crew was launched on the 5th April to rescue two 14 year old girls who had become trapped on rocks North of Peel.
The two local girls who had clambered down the cliffs whilst on an afternoon walk found they were unable to climb back to the top and raised the alarm themselves through Liverpool coastguard who called out Peel RNLI lifeboat at 5-44pm. Within minutes the volunteer crew were on their way to the girls about 1 mile from the station. On reaching them the crew launched the small dinghy to recover the two from the cliff face and return them safely to Peel.
On return to Peel the girls said “they were highly embarrassed by all the fuss and expense they had caused” John Hunter 2nd. Coxswain said “it shows the danger of climbing down cliffs without any thought of the way back.”
