Official photo portrait of former President of Tynwald takes its place

by isleofman.com 13th April 2012

The official photo portrait of former President of Tynwald Noel Cringle OBE has been hung in the Legislative Council chamber.

The portrait joins that of the first President of Tynwald Sir Charles Kerruish OBE and was taken by Tynwald Seneschal Paul Dougherty, a keen amateur photographer who regularly volunteers his services to the Office of the Clerk of Tynwald and was recently responsible for photographing Swedish parliamentarian Gustaf Hoffstedt when he visited the Legislative Buildings and was welcomed by the Speaker of the House of Keys, the Hon Steve Rodan SHK.

President of Tynwald, the Hon Clare Christian MLC, said: ‘We are most grateful to Mr Dougherty for giving so freely of his time to provide such accomplished photo portraiture. The photograph is a fitting tribute to Mr Cringle, a Manxman who is an  internationally respected  former parliamentarian and presiding officer who remains held in the highest esteem; his wise counsel, dignity and integrity have made a lasting contribution not only to Manx political life but also to the wider Isle of Man community.’
