Visit of HRH The Prince of Wales and the Duchess of Cornwall

by isleofman.com 25th April 2012

Police are asking for the assistance of the public tomorrow (Thu 26 Apr 2012) to ensure the success of the visit of HRH The Prince of Wales and the Duchess of Cornwall.

Inspector Will Campbell, who is overseeing the visit of the Royal couple to Peel, said;

“It would assist enormously if people coming to Peel could arrive early and leave plenty of time to park if you are coming down. Parking around the House of Mannanan will be restricted and there will be no parking allowed on the West Quay.  The Fenella Beach car park and  breakwater parking area will be available but I expect these to fill very early on.  The headland car park will be opened and I would encourage visitors to park there and walk along Peel Promenade.  The footbridge will remain open throughout to provide foot access to the Lifeboat area.  There will be a number of Police Officers available and I would ask that drives and pedestrians alike follow any Police instructions regarding their movements”

Inspector Mark Britton is overseeing the earlier visit to the NSC. He added;

“The Bowl car park is by far the best place to park, and spectators will be able to watch proceedings from the Bowl side of the river. Parking at the actual NSC will be restricted and viewing opportunities are limited from that area. “

Overall, the police are appealing for people to park sensibly and considerately, and follow the directions of officers to help everyone enjoy the event in safety and comfort.
