TT fans race to meet Conor Cummins at Manx Telecom shop

by isleofman.com 3rd May 2012

TT fans have a chance to meet Tyco Suzuki rider Conor Cummins when he makes a personal appearance at the Manx Telecom shop on Saturday May 12.

The Ramsey Rocket, who deservedly won the Ambassador of the Year award at this year’s Isle of Man Bank Sports Awards, will be at the shop in Strand Street from 10am to noon to sign autographs and have his photo taken with fans. The first 50 customers through the door will receive an exclusive, limited edition, poster signed by Conor plus an exclusive bike stand.

As well as the personal appearance, Manx Telecom is celebrating its personal sponsorship deal with Conor with an exclusive competition to win a lap of the TT Mountain Course with the fastest Manxman over the 37? mile circuit. Conor will give his expert insight about racing in the TT as he drives the lucky prize winner on a full lap of the Mountain Course in a BMW car provided by Island-based authorised dealer Buchanan. Voirrey Barron, Manx Telecom Marketing Communications Manager, said:

“As we have the fastest phones on the Island’s fastest 3G network we feel that we’re the ideal sponsor for the fastest Manxman on two wheels! We’re really looking forward to Conor’s in-store visit and to giving our customers and TT visitors the chance to win some fantastic prizes over the TT period. Fans shouldn’t miss this great opportunity to meet the Ramsey Rocket, one of the most popular and charismatic TT riders.”

The personal sponsorship of Conor Cummins is just one of the ways in which the Island’s leading telecoms company is supporting this year’s TT festival. There’s also a competition to give away 10 Sony Xperia S smartphones during the racing festival. As Conor is a keen mountain biker and uses cycling as part of his fitness regime, his personal sponsorship deal also includes him wearing an exclusive Manx Telecom jersey when he competes in mountain biking events. He is hoping to ride in the Longest Day, Longest Ride 24hour mountain bike race on June 16/17 and the End To End Challenge on September 9.

For details about the competition to win a lap of the TT course with Conor, look out for your text or go to www.manxtelecom.com/ttlap. Entries close on Thursday 10th May.
