Members please note that the Chrystals Senior Open tournament will commence on Saturday with play throughout the week and Finals Day will be Sunday May 20.
This Saturday (12th May) at 2pm will be the U8 Mini Tennis competition – this will not affect the Mini Tennis 12 and 1pm Red Ball coaching. These sessions are sponsored by Panacea Pharma Projects. If any new Albany Mini members have not yet been given a PPP shirt please tell me at coaching on Saturday.
The IOMLTA PokerStars Men’s and Women’s Doubles league have started with matches at the club on Monday (Women B) Wednesday (Men C) and Thursday (Men A). There are no home matches during the tournament and a full list of HOME fixtures is displayed
at the club.
The Friday Morning Ladies will be holding a lunch on Friday May 18. A note has been sent to all members who are likely to attend – members past and present are welcome to attend and enjoy what I’m sure will be a very tasty meal. The FML are really good cooks.
It will be a buffet and everyone is asked to provide something – ie quiche, chicken, fish, salads and desserts, cheese etc. There is a chart at the club for names and the dish they will provide. Any queries contact Barbara Foley 629587/494511 or Fran Shacklock 624911. Also don’t forget – take your own plate, bowl, glass and cutlery so that no one is “lumbered” with the washing up!
Billy Harris continues to play well in Europe – reaching the qtr/finals of the singles before losing in this ITF Grade 2 event to Nikola Milojevic (SRB); then partnering Nikola, who has a world junior ranking 4, lost in three sets in the doubles final.
If any of our juniors are competing in the UK or Europe please ask me for a tournament report form, then I can let our members know your results.
The club will again be hosting the Children of Chernobyl as guests at the club for tennis and lunch. This year the date is Thursday July 19 from 10am. Please let me know if you are willing to help either on court, proving food or serving and clearing up. Tel 861497 or e-mail ballabreck@manx.net.
