Noble’s Hospital will be celebrating Volunteers’ Week from the 21st – 25th May 2012. Working in partnership with other organisations who recruit volunteers, Noble’s Hospital Volunteer Service has organised an exhibition of volunteering information for members of the public.
The exhibition will be launched in the main foyer at Noble’s Hospital on Monday 21st May at 10.30am by Member for Health, Dudley Butt MLC who said: “It is a pleasure to be able to launch such a prestigious and thoughtful event. I think it is enormously refreshing to know that there are individuals who are willing to help the Department with their time. It is with the help, hard work and dedication of these volunteers that the Department is able to provide such a high standard of customer service, and for this I personally thank everyone involved in the initiative.”
Noble’s Hospital Volunteer Service has supported Volunteers week since 2004. Alison Lester, Volunteer Service Manager commented: “Volunteers’ Week is our chance to reward, recruit and to recognise the valuable role of the volunteer. This is our opportunity to say thank you for the time they give in supporting patients, visitors and staff at Noble’s Hospital, as well as at off-site areas such as the Central Community Health Centre on Westmoreland Road, and in their other roles such as Dining Companions and Volunteer Travelling Companions.
“During the week, patients, visitors and staff can also take part in a Community Art Project called ‘Set Your Dreams Free’, which entails writing a ‘dream’ that will be used to create art work which, once completed, will be exhibited throughout the Hospital posters as part of the Noble’s Hospital Healing Arts Programme.”
During the week, Noble’s Healing Arts will provide various musical performances throughout the Hospital. Also the British Red Cross (Isle of Man) will be demonstrating and offering hand and arm massage. On Wednesday 23rd May at 2.30pm in the Hospital Chapel a ‘Thanksgiving’ service will be held and all are welcome to attend.
Some members of the Department’s Senior Leadership Team will be taking part in ‘Back to the Floor’ to become a volunteer. David Killip, Chief Executive, who will be assisting the Hear2Help scheme, said: “To be able to get a firsthand experience of what our volunteers do each day is a fantastic experience. The work of these dedicated individuals ensures that services within the Department are of the highest standard and the Department of Health values every volunteer who gives up their time to assist our patients and the public. The commitment which these volunteers show day in, day out is inspiring and it is a great pleasure to work alongside them for a short while.”
