Headteacher Welcomes International Student Vets to School Livestock Unit

by isleofman.com 15th May 2012

Ramsey Grammar School Rural Science Unit played host to 3 student vets from Glasgow School of Veterinary Science this week.

They were welcomed by Head-teacher David Trace who proudly showed them around the excellent facilities.

As with all such students these three prospective vets from Singapore were keen to gain as much experience of farm livestock as possible and they made the most of opportunities for sheep handling including loading and transporting the school flock, weighing lambs and trimming feet. They also worked with the school pig herd, ultra-sound scanning one the sows which was pregnant, and assessing health of growing stock including taking temperatures and handling piglets.
