Workers at Scottish Widows have congratulated colleague David Ashford on being elected Mayor of Douglas for the 2012-2013 municipal year.
Mr Ashford, a councillor for Victoria ward, was installed as Mayor on May 9th, and will be the second youngest holder of the office, Council leader David Christian having served as Mayor between 1996 and 1997 when he was 31.
Scottish Widows senior manager Juan Clarke said: ‘All of us at Scottish Widows are delighted David has achieved this recognition, especially at such a young age. David has worked here for some five years and is a valued and popular member of the team, conscientiously balancing his working and civic responsibilities with great diligence and I have every confidence he will approach his duties as Mayor of Douglas with his customary commitment and motivation. We all look forward to when we may have an opportunity to extend an invitation to “His Worship” to support us in our work with the local community and we wish him every success in his well deserved mayoral role.’
