The next film to be screened at the Centenary Centre in Peel, on Wednesday 23rd May, is 2011 comedy from Ireland, The Guard (cert 15).
The film stars Brendan Gleeson as an unorthodox Irish policeman, Don Cheadle as an uptight FBI agent and Liam Cunningham and Mark Strong as international drug smugglers. Written and directed by John Michael McDonagh (whose brother Martin McDonagh wrote and directed In Bruges), the film tells the story of a group of cocaine drug-smugglers and their interaction with local police, set against the backdrop of small-town western Ireland. The film is full of colourful wisecracks and dialogue, beautiful landscapes and great performances from the protagonists.
The film starts at 7.45pm and runtime is 96 minutes. Doors open at 7pm. Refreshments are available.
