'Project Blue' Breakfast a success for PwC

by isleofman.com 25th May 2012

Key business people gathered this week for a special ‘Project Blue’ breakfast at the Claremont Hotel.

Organised by PwC, the seventy-strong breakfast audience heard a keynote speech by Andrew Jurczynski, a partner in PwC’s Financial Services Practice.

Project Blue is PwC’s perspective on major trends that are reshaping the global economy - and their implications for the global financial system as well as individual financial centres.  It was co-authored by Andrew and was presented to the World Economic Forum at Davos earlier this year.

Project Blue is used by PwC to help clients develop strategies in response to fundamental changes in their markets and has been presented to business leaders across the globe.  Speaking after his presentation Andrew said: ‘Many organisations in the financial services industry are finding it difficult to look beyond the current market turmoil, caused by the onset of the financial crisis. Success or survival will depend on being able to look towards longer term trends, such as the rise and interconnectivity of the emerging markets and state-directed approaches to economic development, to redefine strategies and business.

‘The Project Blue framework identifies these global trends, which can help organisations consider all of the underlying drivers together.’

PwC Director Gordon Wilson commented: ‘Andrew has a wealth of experience advising international financial institutions on a full range of strategic, operational and organisational issues, so it was fascinating to learn about the Project Blue findings.

‘Andrew’s personal knowledge - combined with the trends identified in Project Blue - provided a unique insight and he asked some searching questions for us here in the Isle of Man as we decide on how to develop new and existing markets. We hope the briefing was of value to the ‘Project Blue’ breakfast audience.’
