There have recently been a number of serious road traffic collisions which have had tragic consequences.
The priorities of the Police and partners are to keep people safe on the Islands roads. We are very concerned during this really busy period and want to appeal to visitors and locals alike to ride and drive responsibly.
Inspector Stephen of the Road Policing Unit said; “That means travelling at the right speed for the road conditions and most importantly riding and driving within your own ability”.
Two serious collisions have occurred in the early morning.
He reassured members of the public;
“We are aware that some motorcyclists choose to ride the TT course early in the morning. The roads may be a little quieter however whatever the time of day you use the roads, you have to ride to the prevalent conditions.
We have Officers on patrol during the night and from very early morning every day. They will be enforcing speed limits and targeting persons riding irresponsibly. People need to think about the consequences of their riding, we want people to enjoy the TT Festival and then return home safely”.
