Douglas Borough Council’s Bank Holiday opening hours: Diamond Jubilee and Tynwald Day celebrations

Douglas Borough Council will be observing the Bank Holiday arrangements as approved by Tynwald to accommodate Her Majesty the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee and Tynwald Day celebrations.

Opening hours will be as follows:

Borough Treasurer’s Payments Counter

Monday 4 June – normal hours
(Normal opening hours are 9.00am – 4.00pm Monday – Friday.  Closed Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays).

Thursday 5 and Friday 6 July – closed (re-open Monday 11 July, normal hours).

Douglas Town Hall Reception (including Housing Office in John Street)

Monday 4 June – normal hours
(Normal opening hours are 8.45am – 5.15pm Monday – Friday.  Closed Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays).

Thursday 5 and Friday 6 July – closed (re-open Monday 11 July, normal hours).

Domestic Refuse Collection

There will be no reduction or change to normal services.

Kerbside Collection Service

Monday 4 June – collection in Saddlestone will take place as normal.

The Governor’s Hill collection will take place on the preceding Friday, 1 June 2012.  

Thursday 5 and Friday 6 July – no collections.

Domestic recyclable waste can be taken to the bring sites at the Grandstand, Shoprite in Victoria Road and Tesco.

All collections are as listed in the new calendar. Householders not in receipt of a calendar should telephone 696450.

Containers and bags containing only one type of material may be left out in addition to the kerbside boxes.  No mixed contents please.

Eastern Civic Amenity Site

Open every day from 8.00am to 4.00pm, except Tynwald Day.

Henry Bloom Noble Library

Monday 4 June – normal hours
(Normal opening hours are 9.15am - 5.30pm Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday. 10am - 5.30pm Wednesdays.  Closed Sundays and public holidays).

Thursday 5 and Friday 6 July – closed (re-open Saturday 7 July, normal hours).

Cemeteries

The Book of Remembrance (at the main Cemetery in Glencrutchery Road) and the Lawn cemetery will be open as normal daily.

The cemetery office at Glencrutchery Road will close at 3.50pm on Wednesday 4 July and re-open for enquiries on Saturday 7 July from 9.00am to 11.00am.

Housing Service

4 June – normal hours
(Normal hours are 8.45am – 5.15pm Monday – Friday.  Closed Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays).

Out of normal hours, in cases of serious emergency only tenants may call 671100.

Douglas Development Partnership Office

4 June – normal hours
(Normal opening hours are 8.45am – 5.15pm Monday – Friday.  Closed Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays).

Thursday 5 and Friday 6 July – closed (re-open Monday 11 July, normal hours).
