Large Seizure of Drugs in Douglas

On Sunday 3rd June 2012, Police Officers from the Isle of Man Constabulary Pro-Active Unit located a large amount of controlled drugs in a car and garage in Anaghcoar, Douglas. A 36 year old male from Anaghcoar was arrested at the scene and taken to Police Headquarters for questioning. The amount of Cannabis seized is estimated to have a street value of approximately ?140,000.
 
This male has subsequently been charged with drug related offences and will appear at Court this morning, Tuesday 5th June 2012
 
Acting Detective Inspector Steve Maddocks who heads up the Unit stated:
 
“This is yet another example of the persistence and professionalism of my team in directly targeting people who are involved in the supply of controlled drugs to and on the Island.  Drugs have a detrimental effect on our community and our quality of life and we will continue to target criminals involved in this activity.  If anyone has any information regarding drugs or other criminal activity, I would urge them to speak to the Police in confidence or use the anonymous Crimestoppers line 0800 555 111”
