The next film to be screened at the Centenary Centre in Peel, on Wednesday 13th June, is the 2011 biography/drama My Week with Marilyn (cert 15).
Sir Laurence Olivier (Kenneth Branagh) is making a movie in London entitled The Prince and the Showgirl. An eager film student Colin Clark, played by Eddie Redmayne, manages to get himself a job on the set. When Hollywood star Marilyn Monroe (Michelle Williams) arrives for the start of shooting, everyone turns out to catch a glimpse of the famous blonde bombshell. However, during the making of the film, Olivier struggles to meet her many demands and acting ineptness. Colin on the other hand is intrigued by her and is amazed when she invites him into her inner world, only to find a vulnerable woman who struggles with her fame, her beauty and her desire to be a great actress.
