Veterinary Surgeon to take part further charity walk

by isleofman.com 12th June 2012

Veterinary Surgeon Edric Cross from Arg Beiyn Veterinary Practice is once again taking to the mountains for a fundraising charity walk.

After walking through the Alps last year Edric is now planning to walk the length of the Pyrenean mountain range from the Atlantic to the Mediterranean coasts. Following the GR10 long distance footpath he will take 4 weeks to walk the 538 miles. Currently he is to be found walking the hills in the North of the Island with his Hungarian Vizsla “Crumble” who unfortunately will not be able to join him on the trek.

“I am once again putting my feet through the turmoil of a major trek. Last year in 3 weeks I lost 10kg in bodyweight and 4 toenails! This year we are running a competition to guess how much weight I shall lose over the four weeks.

Each year we support two charities and this year we are supporting the Manx Wildlife Trust and Hounds for Heroes. Hounds for Heroes is a UK based charity training assistance dogs for severely injured servicemen; it is a fairly new charity and we feel its aims are really worthwhile.”

Anyone wishing to sponsor Edric can do so at any of the three Arg Beiyn veterinary practices in Onchan, Ramsey or Peel.
