At 13:58 on Thursday 14th June 2012 three fire appliances from Douglas and the Duty Officer attended Nobles Hospital after the report of a fire involving a medical equipment washing machine in a side room.
Two crew members wearing Breathing Apparatus entered the room and used a CO2 extinguisher to put out the fire within the machine.
Fire crews and hospital maintenance staff then worked quickly using a positive pressure fan in conjunction with the buildings fire ventilation extract system to remove all smoke from the ward and corridors prior to the building being declared safe.
Due to the quick actions of the hospital staff and the high standard of fire precautions in the property at no time were any members of the public at risk.
Crews left the incident and returned to home station by 14:58 after making sure the incident had been dealt with successfully.
