The Manx Telecom Post TT Road Races, round eight of the Duke Road Race Rankings 2012 brought the curtain down on the Isle of Man TT Festival and as in previous years the event provided close exciting racing for the numerous fans around the 4.25-mile Billown Course.
Held in glorious conditions, much welcome after the dismal weather during the week which first caused the postponement of, then the cancellation of the Senior TT for the first time in its 105 year history.
The opening race of the programme the combined 125cc and 400cc race provided a start to finish win for local resident Chris Palmer (125 Mannin Honda), although he didn't have it all his own way as he was chased hard by fellow local Dave Taylor (400 Yamaha) until the closing stages of the six lap race, as Ross Johnson (400 Yamaha) filled a somewhat lonely third spot.
Ryan Farquhar took the victory in the combined 250cc/650cc race, on his Lightweight TT winning KMR Kawasaki, with Chris Plamer taking second place on his 250cc Mannin Honda and fellow 'vet' Ian Lougher third on another 650cc SuperTwin.
The feature race for 600cc Supersort machines saw Ian Lougher take the chequered flag, as a fierce battle ensued behind for second and third place between locals Andy Fenton and Paul Smyth with the decision going to Fenton by seven-tenths of a second at the end of six hectic laps.
Ryan Faraquhar increases his advantage over second place man Michael Dunlop to 750 points, whilst Chris Palmer climbs one position to ninth, with Ian Lougher a three-time winner of the Duke Rankings making his debut in the top 30 this year slotting into 14th place.
The action now moves to Northern Ireland for the Mid Antrim 150 Road Races before moving over the North Yorkshire for the Barry Sheene Race Festival at Oliver's Mount Scarborough.
