Three TT fans – two from Douglas and one from Dublin – have had their motorcycle racing knowledge rewarded by winning prizes in the Henry Bloom Noble Library annual TT quiz.
Launched for the festival’s centenary year, 2007, the library’s TT quiz has developed a loyal following with 2012 attracting the largest numbers of entries so far. The questions set by library assistant Vicky Magill were an eclectic mix covering the history of the event, famous landmarks on the mountain course and the riders and personalities associated with the TT now and in the past. The winners of the prizes donated by the Lexicon Bookshop and Extreme Arts and Gadgets were Andy Sharpe of Douglas, whose first prize was a signed print of Conor Cummins, and Tom Rougvie, also from Douglas, who took away the second prize of a signed copy of The Ring of Fire and That Near Death Thing by Rick Broadbent. Third prize, a signed print of Guy Martin, went to regular TT visitor Harry Havelin from Dublin who, although back in Dublin when the prizes were presented, sent an email expressing his delight at winning the print, adding that he was already looking forward to returning for TT 2013.
