Diamond Jubilee Medal Presentation

by isleofman.com 21st June 2012
A selected group of officers attended Government House to be presented with their Queen’s Diamond Jubilee Medals by His Excellency the Lieutenant Governor last Tuesday, 19th June

The medals were presented to all officers who had served for five years or more at the time of the Jubilee. For many, this is their second Jubilee medal, having also received one in recognition of their service on the occasion of the Golden Jubilee in 2002.

Deputy Chief Constable Gary Roberts, who was there to introduce the officers to His Excellency said; “ This is one of those occasions during an officer’s service where they can reflect on the contribution they have made to “The Queen’s Peace”. Every constable swears an oath of Service to the Crown when they first join the Constabulary.

The exigencies of duty means that we can’t invite every officer to receive their medal in the formal setting of Government House, directly from Her Majesty’s representative. But to be able to mark the occasion with such a ceremony is an important thing to do to recognise sixty years of inspirational public service by The Queen”

The officers attending were:

Constable Darren Burns

Special Constable Dave Cheval

Detective Constable Tony Corlett

Constable Gianni Fabrizio

Inspector Derek Flint

Special Constable Glyn Harper

Detective Constable Ian Harrison
