Arts Council Manx Music and Dance Season 2012

The Isle of Man Arts Council is delighted to bring its free Manx Music and Dance Summer Season back to the beautiful Villa Marina Arcade for a fourth year. This year’s line-up is as diverse as ever, covering everything from traditional Manx tunes to contemporary work, drawing on the wealth of Celtic and folk music and dance.

Performers include Strengyn with their guitars and mandolins fusing traditional tunes with their own compositions. Scammylt provide a fresh new sound centered on brilliant fiddle playing. Then there’s Shoh Slaynt, The Manx Folk Dance Society, Douglas Town Band, Cliogaree Twoaie with Bock Yuan Fannee and the Ellan Vannin Pipes & Drums. The season culminates on 26th August with Christa McCartney, Perree Bane and The Mollag Band.

Laurence Skelly MHK, Chairman of the Arts Council said “This annual Season is another showcase for the talent we have on the Isle of Man. Not only do these groups and individuals give fantastic live performances, they are promoting our strong Manx tradition and culture.”

The concerts take place on 12th, 19th and 26th July and 2nd, 16th, 23rd and 26th August and start at 8pm. Admission is free.
