Council recognises workers’ long service

by isleofman.com 25th June 2012

Douglas Mayor Councillor David Ashford has presented long-service certificates to five members of staff: facilities supervisor/mayor’s support officer David Allcock and tramways operations supervisor Peter Cannon - 20 years; maintenance officer Derek Neild and assistant charge hand Samuel Renshaw - 30 years, and technical officer Tony Barfoot 40 years. A sixth staff member, sweeper driver Terence Caley who had completed 30 years’ service, was unable to attend.

Offering his congratulations the Mayor said it was pleasing to note that among the Council’s workforce were so many long-serving employees. Presenting long-service certificates was, he said, an opportunity for the Council to mark its appreciation, recognise staff members’ hard work and dedication and celebrate their achievements in supporting the Council in its work to deliver high standards of service across all its operations.
