Ramsey Town Commissioners’ housing and properties section has been strengthened after three staff members completed the Chartered Institute of Housing level two in housing practice, two gaining overall merit grades, the third an overall distinction.
Presenting the certificates to Sonia Kennish, (merit), Tilly Goodall, (distinction) and Richard Kaighen (merit) chairman of Ramsey Town Commissioners Captain Nigel Malpass congratulated the group on their success. He said their achievement would add to the housing section’s wealth of expertise and serve as a practical demonstration of the Commission’s commitment to good governance. It would also highlight the importance the Commissioners place on providing opportunities for continual professional development.
Housing and property manager Marlene Hendy added that the results recorded by the Institute were the best achieved to date by a cohort of candidates undertaking the training programme in house. She said: ‘Achieving this success has given Tilly, Sonia and Richard added confidence and equipped them to deliver our services to an exceptionally high standard.’
Adding her congratulations deputy chairman Sylvia Beattie said she was ‘very proud’ that the team’s expertise had been recognised by a professional body.
In closing Captain Malpass said: ‘These outstanding results allow the Commission to show to the outside world how true success can come only by working as a team.’
The course was delivered by Chartered Institute of Housing trainers on-island in association with Douglas Borough Council, where a number of its staff members also achieved success.
