We’re very proud to have the Island’s only purpose built data centre and during the visit we were able to explain to the delegation the vital role it plays not only in Manx Telecom’s hosting services but also the vital role it has for many of the Island’s essential services.”
The Douglas North Data Centre is equipped to cope with any eventuality to protect the hosting services it provides. As well as a range of sophisticated security measures it has its own diesel powered electric generators and a raft of state-of-the-art fire and flood defences.
The China delegation was led by Zhou Xiaoming, Minister Counsellor, Economic and Commercial Office, Embassy of the People's Republic of China in London and Mr Yang Schicheng, Chairman of the China Enterprises Association in Britain. The purpose of the visit was to allow them to gain a better understanding of the opportunities available for Chinese businesses in the Isle of Man which is an ideal gateway to Europe for the increasing number of Chinese companies looking to trade and invest there. The visit also provided a chance for Isle of Man companies to discuss investment into China. The delegation also met with the Lieutenant Governor, the Chief Minister and the Minister for Economic Development and attended a lunch with members of the Isle of Man Chamber of Commerce.
