Fire crew attend camper van fire in early hours

At 00.57hrs on the 1st July 2012 fire crews responded to a vehicle fire in the Rosemount area of Douglas, upon arrival crews discovered a camper van that had been involved in fire.  A member of the public who was passing by had knocked down the initial fire using a dry powder extinguisher.

Crews ensured the fire was out and checked for fire spread before making the vehicle safe.

There were no injuries reported during this incident.

The fire was confined to the rear compartment of the vehicle which is used as a storage area; there was also slight smoke damage in the living quarters of the van.

At this time the cause of the fire is still under investigation.
