by isleofman.com 4th July 2012

Celton Manx is pleased to be supporting the Isle of Man Athletic Association Track and Field Championships for the coming three years.

Each year the championships take place at the National Sports Centre, Douglas: this year the event will be taking place on the 14th and 15th July. Over 300 athletes will be involved in the event aged from 7 to 67, covering all disciplines from 75m sprints for the youngest competitors to mid-distance and throwing events. A Victor/Victrix Ludorum trophy is awarded to the best athlete in each age group over the weekend and the winners of each event are presented with gold, silver and bronze Isle of Man Athletics Association medals.

David Pryke, Chairman of the Isle of Man Athletics Association said: ‘We are delighted to be welcoming Celton Manx on board as our sponsor for the next three years. This event is always very well subscribed and popular with our local athletes and produces a very varied field. The three year commitment gives us stability for the future of the event and will help us to plan for the future with continuity. We are all very much looking forward to a successful event.’

Celton Manx Executive Director, Bill Mummery said: ‘The Isle of Man has produced some outstanding athletes over the years and it is great to see the local championships going from strength to strength. We are delighted to be able to offer our support to the event for the next three years which will help to recognise and nurture local talent through the Isle of Man Athletics Association. We wish them the very best of luck for the event.’
