The Henry Bloom Noble Library is to host the launch of Safe House, Isle of Man-based author Chris Ewan’s latest crime novel.
Mr Ewan will attend the event which is taking place in the community room of Noble’s Park Pavilion on Thursday August 2nd at 7.30pm. He said: ‘Safe House is set in the Isle of Man, it was written in the Isle of Man, and it's a thriller that I hope will appeal to all kinds of readers in the Isle of Man and beyond. The book has attracted some terrific pre-publication buzz - it's being published as Faber and Faber's lead summer crime title - and I can't think of a more fitting way to mark its publication than a party hosted by the talented team at the Henry Bloom Noble Library, Douglas, who have been such great supporters of my novels. Come along and join the celebration. It'll be a blast.’
Borough librarian Jan Macartney added: ‘Safe House has been chosen as one of the independent booksellers’ choice for August in the Bookseller magazine. Also on the list are bestselling authors Peter Robinson, Mark Billingham and Ian McEwan so Chris is in good company!’
Top crime writers have praised Mr Ewan’s latest work. S.J.Bolton said: ‘Ewan has added a sprinkling of edible gold dust and elevated the everyman thriller into a compelling, contemporary read…’ while Andrew Taylor commented: ‘[Safe House] combines a tense emotional switchback with an expertly controlled narrative and characters you care about. Chris Ewan is an author to watch – and enjoy.’
Tickets for the event are available from the ground floor counter of the library and are priced ?5 which includes complimentary refreshments and a live performance by musician Matt Creer.
The Henry Bloom Noble Library is at 10 Victoria Street, Douglas.
